"Fusion rock fans who miss the glory days of high-voltage guitar solos, round-the-kit drumming, thumping bass lines and tasty keyboards that were so prominent just a few decades ago will love Warp 3's Music has Evolved (Allusion Records). This local group, composed of guitarist Ryan Maza, drummer Jim Pavett and bassist Mike Martinez (joined by Richard Katz, Kevin Robinson and Brett Turner on some tracks) lay down a groove that manages to sound both timeless, and yet evocative of power groups like Rush (sans vocals). The 10 original songs on the album (with names like "Mt. Ziggurat," and "Invasion") present a fast and furious - though carefully controlled - musical journey that's like being on an open highway with the throttle down. Given the recording was made at Pavett's Allusion Studios, it's not surprising that the sound quality is impeccable, with each instrument given full range." Bass Player Magazine
Warp 3 was featured in the February 2001 Issue of Bass Player Magazine, 'B P Recommends' Section. Reviewer Ed Friedland says, "..Martinez deftly handles the funky end while Turner appears on the more metalish numbers in a well-produced shred fest. Amid the chops, the tunes retain their melodicism."

Instrumental guitar rock can sometimes be really boring but these guys have done a really good Rock/Funk/Prog/Fusion album filled with lovely licks, tricks, moves, grooves and power chords from Mainman/Guitarist, Ryan Maza. The other two members and fellow Americans from Tucson/Arizona are Mike Martinez (Bass) & Jim Pavett (Drums). They have a really tight and steady rhythm section goin on. In fact..what's a Guitar album without a tight R-Section? Ryan Maza is maybe not a well known name yet..but believe me, he will be! Cuz, this is a great Guitarist in the same kind of style as 'Gary Hoey, Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson'.
This CD was released on 1/21/00 in association with 'Guitar nine Records' and in celebration of the release, Warp 3 performed a concert with Gary Hoey at 'The Rock' in Tucson! It was a big success. Opening track 'Ass kick' really does kick ass! It's a groovy Rock/Fusion song that sounds a lot like Joe Satriani, but don't get me wrong...he's not a copy-cat! No, Maza has got a style of his own, but you can also hear what his influences are. It's always difficult to review an Instrumental album but 'Driven' is a wonderful song with some lovely melodies and every song is really nice to listen to! This is a must have CD for all fans of 'Guitar Rock'.
